The Friends Of Hilly Fields Park

Our new website is coming...

Hilly Fields in Brockley, London, was saved from development in the late 19th century through a significant local campaign led by social reformer Octavia Hill, becoming a public park in 1896 to provide green space for the crowded East End. Originally farmland (Bridge House Farm) and brickworks, its preservation involved fundraising from figures like William Morris and livery companies, establishing it as a vital community resource with views over London from its hilltop summit.
